At a prestigious awards ceremony in London,
Woburn Country Foods beat off competition from 91 other butchers with 260 types of bacon,
to win.....
The pork supplier for the champion bacon was Bedfordia Farms based in Milton Ernest, Bedfordshire.
Andrew Davies, former pig farmer and MD of Woburn Country Foods
commented on receiving the award:
"Our Woburn Black Bacon is hand dry cured with a secret blend of sugars and salts
and then marinated in black treacle and smoked,
creating the distinctive flavour that was a hit with the judging panel.
We are thrilled and honoured to receive the award
which is also a testament to the quality of local pork"
TV presenter Anna Ryder Richardson presented the award at this prestigious event that launched Britain's Connoisseur Bacon Week.
